Step 4: Packing

Pulling all my new/favourite clothes out of the wardrobe, filling up my toilet bag and loading a new film onto my Golden Half camera does not constitute ‘packing’. But that’s where I’m at so far. I’ve decided packing starts the realisation phase of this journey… So far I’ve spent all this money, got the suitcase, taken the time off work… but it still hasn’t felt completely ‘real’. Oh but its coming! Four days to go my friends!

I don’t think it will completely sink in until Saturday when I’m sitting on that plane, no contact with anyone but Tahlia, and no way home for another 39 days… SHIT! I’ve got the travel sick pills, a hair and spray tan appointment, new trackies… I think I’m good to go… Apart from putting my toothbrush in & shutting the lid. What else does one need on these journeys? Digital Camera – Check, iPod – Check, US Currency – Check, Lonely Planet Guide – Check, anything else? My sanity perhaps? Still in the freak out zone. How long before I can relax??? It’s supposed to be a holiday. I need to take Aline with me for a daily massage…

Although I’m freaking out, I would say I’m pretty ‘onto it’ with preparations otherwise. I have started writing in my notebook all the important phone numbers, addresses and (lol) SHOPS! I even found out that from our hotel in New York it is a six minute walk to Footlocker. My diary is going to be perfect! (I hope the blogs that come from it are readable) So can’t wait for delicious scenery and photo opportunities either…

I’m rambling on as usual… see you at the airport!
